Cathédrale Saint Etienne
Down the centuries, Metz, a three millennia city, has undergone many changes. A trading, banking or military city has today transformed itself into a city of communication and new technologies. Saint Stephen's Cathedral, built between the 13th and 16th century, symbolises both the politics and the wealth of the republic of Metz. It is an example of the tremendous possibilities offered by gothic art: impressive height of the vaulted roof and immense surface of stained glass windows. In fact, it has 6500 m2 of stained glass windows dating from 13th to 20th centuries, some of them were made by Chagall. Cathedral open every day since 8h30 to 18h, except Sunday morning and religious services.
